i probably sound annoying but what you’re talking about are impulsive thoughts, not intrusive. the difference being that intrusive thoughts are thoughts about things that tend to have a negative emotional effect on the person. this term is usually used in correlation to mental illnesses such as ocd and adhd. impulsive thoughts are thoughts that on some level you actually WANT to do it, and does not have negative emotional effects. intrusive thoughts are extremely hard to live with, and using the wrong term can desensitise the experiences of people like me who have to live with them. people usually don’t know the diff due to misinformation and lack of knowledge on the topic, but that’s what im here for! to help you ❤

On the other hand, intrusive thoughts are repetitive, unwanted thoughts that are often disturbing and difficult to control. They can come out of nowhere and cause significant distress, anxiety, and shame.

🤣 wrecked. I went to surgery in a tortilla blanket, one of the surgeons was so nice, she didn't even want to tell me they were going to take it because it wasn't sterile. She's like, "I'll grab you another one so we can keep this one safe." You know, from everything that comes from surgery.
