Racks scare the hell out of me. And I started with Reason 20 years ago!

I had a DX27 in the 80s a a child. Suffice to say I never got a single sound out of it other than the presets. The DX7 had more sounds and that was *easier* to program! Still a nightmare though.

i use surge stand alone to create samples for tracker music, need to learn how it works for good though

Did anybody ever notice how Odin and Surge (while undisputedly feature packed and highly capable on paper) fall apart when the actual sound is concerned?
It's like you can pull off almost any bread and butter analog/wavetable/fm patch on surge but it rarely sounds particularly pleasant?
Dexed is off the hook though.-
