I love the implied respect Darkseid has for Desaad. Rather than just blasting him with his Omega Beams for outright having a "I told you so" moment, he just acknowledges that his right hand man was right and he wasn't. That somehow makes him a scarier villain, because he's not some cartoonish tyrant who just blasts anyone who's a minor annoyance. Now he feels like a tyrant with a reasonable head on his shoulders.

That stare down between an angry Darkseid and the Justice League gives me chills. It basically says "This world is defended and we'll be here when you come".

I just love how DeSaad seems so supportive of Steppenwolf all throughout the movie, encouraging and praising him the entire time, and then it turns out he never expected him to succeed, and was in fact so certain he would fail he flat out told Darkseid as much well in advance. So devious.

Steppenwolf will also be remembered as the one who found the Anti-Life Equation, giving him a rank probably greater than DeSaad, being fully redeemed to go home. Become their Hero, earning Darkseid's respect.

Because Darkseid saw Steppenwolf killed by Aquaman, Superman and Wonder Woman, it makes sense why they are dead/turned in the Knightmare future. Darkseid sees them as the biggest threats.
