The Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 is their mainstream smartwatch entry for 2024, available in 2 sizes. It has a faster 3nm CPU, double the storage vs last year and dual band GPU. There’s an LTE option and the watch has a round AMOLED display. It runs Wear OS 5 with OneUI 6. It features a wide range of health tracking and exercise tracking.

I've been wearing a Galaxy Watch Active2 for the past couple years. I was thinking about trading it in and buying the Watch 7 as an upgrade, but after seeing all the comments about the mediocre battery life (which apparently also was an issue with the Watch 6), I decided to buy a second-hand Watch 5 Pro for $120 lol.

So yeah. The Watch 5 Pro has pretty good battery life.

Thanks Lisa! I've tried the Galaxy watch and the Apple watch, but ultimately charging another device every day or 1.5 days just wasn't worth it. Then, I got a pure fitness watch, the Coros Pace 3, and this thing keeps a charge for over a week, depending on how much I use the GPS for runs. No, I don't have Apple/Samsung pay, but I get notifications, and it's amazing for fitness and sleep tracking. Until these phone companies get better battery life, I just can't buy into the ecosystem.

I would love to get a "smarter" smartwatch (installing apps, etc) but honestly, with 24hrs of battery life it is still a no-go for me. After switching from my beloved Huawei GT2 (3 full years on my wrist, 10+ days of battery life), I recently got Huawei Fit 3. NO WORDS.
Samsung should take notes and for the time being, be a little bit ashamed.

Went from the Galaxy Watch 5 to the 7... It's a worthy bump, and given Samsung's generous trade-in for pre-orders ($200!) was definitely worth it. Only gripe so far, I'm one of the early adopters with battery life issues (shorter life than my two year old Watch 5 had)... Hope that is just a software bug like they're saying...

Hi Lisa! Love your reviews, been watching since I was in middle school.

I was wondering if you would be reviewing the Asus Proart px13? It's the only 13 inch 2-1 with dedicated graphics and the new AMD AI 300 chips. I have a 2021 Dell XPS 15 that's on life support and need an upgrade for college. I'm just concerned about battery life and heating for such a compact yet powerful convertible.

Thanks!

Hi Lisa, I recently upgraded to the Galaxy Watch 7 44mm. It is such an improvement over the GW4! I've only recently started using my watch to monitor my sleep, but it doesn't start tracking when I go to bed or fall asleep. Often the first couple of hour are omitted. I consistently go to bed at 10:00 PM, is there a way to tell the watch to start monitoring my sleep?

I still hate all of the bloat that I can't delete

Nice review - had my GW7 for 1.5 weeks. I agree battery life is not amazing but I do get better than 24h with 60+mins GPS and 45 mins circuit training. I also use the always on display but do disable "raise wrist to wake" and NFC. Processor is a big step up especially if you use background apps (like Spotify) while working out.

The only reason why I've been upgrading samsung watches is because samsung is almost paying me to upgrade to the next model

I disagree with the point raised @6:50. Not using the always on display feature doesn't really defeat the purpose of having this kind of watch.
Having the display on when you're not looking at it, seems like a massive waste of energy imo. I've been using my Watch 4 Classic with the raise to wake mode and it works ~90% of the time, and allows me to have two day battery life.
