STARSHIP IFT-2 LAUNCH TRAILER (4K) | SECOND STARSHIP LAUNCH
Показать описание
SpaceX is aiming to launch its Starship Integrated Flight Test 2 (IFT-2) in September, pending the approval of a launch license from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The IFT-2 launch will be a major milestone for the Starship program, as it will be only the second time that the vehicle will attempt to reach orbit.
The Starship is a fully reusable two-stage-to-orbit rocket that is designed to carry crew and cargo to the Moon and Mars. The IFT-2 launch will use a prototype version of the Starship called Ship 25 and super heavy booster 9, which currently sits on the Orbital Launch Mount at the orbital pad in Starbase, South Texas.
The IFT-2 launch will consist of two phases. The Starship will be launched atop a Super Heavy booster rocket in the first phase. The Super Heavy booster will provide the initial thrust needed to lift the Starship off the launch pad. SpaceX will deploy a technique called, hot staging to separate the two stages.
In the second phase, the Starship will separate from the Super Heavy booster and continue on to orbit. The Starship will then attempt to land in the ocean.
The IFT-2 launch is a critical test for the Starship program. If successful, it will demonstrate the vehicle's ability to safely reach orbit and return to Earth. This will be a major step towards SpaceX's goal of sending humans to the Moon and Mars.
The Starship is 120 meters (394 feet) tall and 9 meters (29.5 feet) in diameter.
The Super Heavy booster is 120 meters (394 feet) tall and 3 meters (9.8 feet) in diameter.
The Starship is powered by three Raptor engines, while the Super Heavy booster is powered by 33 Raptor engines.
The IFT-2 launch will take place from SpaceX's Starbase Launch facility in South Texas. The launch window for the IFT-2 launch is still to be determined.
