Q. TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF AND WHY YOU ARE SUITED TO THIS LEADERSHIP/MANAGEMENT ROLE?
TIP 1 - Focus on the competencies of an ability to inspire and motivate a team, capable of working under pressure to achieve company goals and also able to solve difficult problems on your own initiative and make the right decisions at the right time.
TIP 2 - You will work hard to meet the organizational objectives, be a loyal and trustworthy leader/manager and you will act as a positive role model and representative for the company.
Q. TELL ME ABOUT A TIME WHEN YOU MADE A QUICK DECISION WITH LIMITED INFORMATION?
TIP 1 - Quick decisions have to be made as a leader and manager. However, it is essential that you balance the risks versus the benefits for each decision you make.
TIP 2 - Describe a situation you were in where you had to make a quick decision based on the best interests of the organization, and that you weighed up the pros and cons before making that decision.
Q. TELL ME ABOUT A TIME YOU HANDLED A DIFFICULT PROBLEM OR CRISIS?
TIP 1 - Demonstrate your ability to remain calm and utilize innovative thinking to come up with a solution to the problem or crisis.
TIP 2 - Every problem can be solved, and it is your job to show resilience, a determined attitude and an ability to strive towards completing the task or project efficiently and effectively.
Q. WHAT DO YOU DISLIKE THE MOST ABOUT LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT?
TIP 1 - Don’t give something here that you have control over (e.g. people within your team underperforming, or unrealistic expectations from your employer).
TIP 2 - Tell them one thing you dislike, but say you have developed skills to overcome that particular aspect you dislike.
Q. IF YOU ARE SUCCESSFUL AT THE INTERVIEW TODAY, WHAT’S THE FIRST THING YOU WILL DO AS OUR NEWLY APPOINTED MANAGER?
TIP 1 - Have a plan for what you are going to do if successful!
TIP 2 - Base your plan on 3 things: A clear brief / team appraisals / motivating and inspiring your team.
