On February 15th, the barricades on Argyle Street, McKenzie Road and the Highway 6 Bypass were taken down as a gesture of good faith by Haudenosaunee land defenders from Six Nations.

For the past four months, these barricades have defended #1492LandBackLane from encroachment by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). In this video, 1492 Land Back Lane spokesperson, Skyler Williams explains the motivations for taking down the barricades and describes how this land reclamation fits within the growing resurgence of Indigenous resistance across Turtle Island.

I don't really understand the "the struggle continues!" framing of a de-escalation. "We will do everything that we can to defend our people and our land." Everything except.... continuing to defend the land???
