Hey Madlads, today I discuss the Georgian war of 2008, and why it was an important event in global politics. It represented a major turning point in the global power balance, and altered the direction of both the security interests of the western NATO alliance and the Russian Federation. Today, I will explain why this war happened, how it happened, and the reasons for its lingering importance into today’s world.

1:38 - Adjarians are literally ethnic Georgians, all regions of Georgia have their own culture, food, dialects and even Langauge, the unity of those Regions is what makes "Georgian".

as a Georgian, reason why getting in NATO is important is because there is no way Georgia to join any Economic alliance with any country unless we have military protection since, Russia is even mad even if Georgia joins EU>

There are many Georgian churches in Abkhazia with old Georgian inscriptions and this proves that Abkhazia was the territory of Georgia.

Today Abkhazians praise Bagrat III. But he forgets that Bagrat III wanted to unite Georgia.

you know what ironic?
during 1993-2007
south ossetia was mostly chill.
but when Nato and Eu recognized kosovo. somehow magically tensions quickly rose in south ossetia. coincedence?
this was russias way of saying
"if you recognize kosovo, then i recognize abkhazia and south ossetia.

Russia bombed civilians in ossetia, then blamed the first case of aggression on georgia. and when they attacked, they called it peacekeeping against the "barbaric aggression from georgia"

It's pretty crazy that the Georgian War basically wrote the textbook for the Russians on how to destabilise Ukraine in 2014- present

One correction. That's not their ethnic territory, 500, 000 Georgians were displaced due to war, and fewer people live now on those territories. These are ethnic Georgian territories, where due to migrations lived Ossetians and Circassians, the problem appeared after USSR and then Russia started provocations about ethnic differences, used some pro-Russian Georgians to start Circassian's rebel alongside Armenians who also lived in Abkhazia, Russia was giving weapons to both sides, Russia hired North Caucasian mercenaries to fight against Georgia and pro-Russian Georgians who had Eduard Shevardnadze (Last MFA of USSR) at the head, started coup d'etat against Georgian president, basically a civil war. Russian Empire massacred almost all Circassians, Russia destroyed Chechnya, basically, bombed cities. So, I mean, it is a one big correction.

Well Russia certainly gained a few cards but they did lose a lot with sanctions and the rest of Georgia turning towards NATO and the EU. Pretty much the same trade off as with Ukraine

Why did you exclude Kaliningrad from Russias territory on the pictures?

Russia is an occupier, the second Russian-Georgian war is proof of this, in 1992 they helped the Abkhaz separatists and in 2008 they openly intervened in the war. in 2008, Georgian troops liberated Tskhinvali in 2 hours, which the Russians had been building for 10 years, but we have very little human strength, so we retreated

"south" ossetia was made by the ussr it never existed before in history, the ossetians are a iranian tribe to immigrated to the NORTH caucasus then some of them immigranted to georgia beause in medieval times georgia was stronger and had a better economy, south ossetia is a made up state and has no real claim as the people immigrated there and later in 1918 inspired by communists sthey started rebeling and killing georgian civilians, thus after the war the kremlin awarded them a state, the "abkhazians" dont really exist they are called the episury people and they come from the north caucasus, as they immigrated into georgia they started calling themselfs abkhazians (they named themselfs ofter a georgian region) and just like ossetians they rebeld in 1918 and killled georgian civilians with the help of the ussr to create the "country" of abkhazia, they have no real claim, the samething is happening today, armenians in javakheti are refusing to learn the georgian languege and are protest and begging russia to help them steal georgian land, georgia is in the worst place rn with the worst neighbors
