In an unexpected twist, Thailand's upcoming election seems to have become a battle between the country's royals and the military in power.
The sister of King Maha Vajiralongkorn, Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana Barnavadi, has been declared a leading candidate for prime minister in the first vote since the military coup in 2014.
She will be up against the incumbent military ruler, Prayuth Chan-ocha, who led the coup, in the March 24 election.
Al Jazeera's Wayne Hay reports from Bangkok.

Its a must. It could have been an appointment from the King. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has the governing precedence. Thailand is a Kingdom and everything must be governed by the members of the ruling monarch. The present Prime Minister must yield to the call for a change and support the kings' eldest sister in exercising the ministerial works of the government. The King plays a very vital pivotal role over this matter. Its a historic and monumental task he needs to steer very well, otherwise, political divisions and chains of conflict may be gestated.

Things must be handled carefully and must be equated wisely along the internal framework of Thailands political state, as a Constitutional Monarchy. I wish the monarchy, the political parties in the government, the present junta and the people of the Kingdom of Thailand to bring the eventual SHIFT to their favors and to the advantages of their ancient cultures and avoid pressures and interventions from external enteties, organizations or nations who knew nothing about the chronicles and rationale of Thailands existence. Long Live The King, Long Live The Monarchy, Long Live The Junta, Long Live to The People of The Great Kingdom of Thailand.

Member of royal family not allowed to become Prime Minister in Thailand..

The king, a problematic person himself, will and should bar her from any role in politics. She might be better than the current prime minister but Thailand is a mess politically and destroying the stability that the monarchy has so far brought would be a kick in the groin to this country. And stepping into a political role will bring the monarchy and the country nothing but the trouble. It's a no brainer.

This obsession with the royal family is deeply disturbing to an outsider like myself. Why would you hold someone to that high of regards simply because of who they were born to?

No politicians should bring any members of royal families into political affairs even that person were strip from their family members this is a mockery of Rama IX and his dynasty anyone who involved with this treachery THEY MUST BE PUNISH!!
