Honestly speaking, this is the side of the Vietnam War that has no recognition whatsoever, yet its story would make for A LOT of mass culture content.

There isn't as much as a hint on its existence even in the most truthful American books, such as "Old Men and a Pale Blooper". There are certain montagnard mentioned to be hired by CIA to discredit the Red fighters by pillaging Southern villages dressed as NVA, which are beaten by the Vietcong squad with Pvt. Joker in it.

But no mentioning of the faction that fought both sides, occasionally aiding either one.

Meanwhile, these people actually had a chance of building the democracy in Vietnam, or at least, on their lands.

Same as in Russia in 1918-1923, where, amongst Reds and Whites fighting each other, there were so-called Green Armies.

It is, in fact, extremely interesting to look at the story of such "third sides" of major conflicts which completely break the narrative, complementing it at the same time.
