Why You Need a Motorcycle Fork Brace

Показать описание

There are a lot of misconceptions about using a fork brace when transporting your motorcycle and the benefits they provide. Using a fork brace or fork saver allows the motorcycle to be tied down securely without compressing the forks, preventing damage to the fork seals and springs while also helping to keep the tie downs tight and prevent the bike from moving during transportation. In this video, we aim to clear up any misinformation about fork savers and show why you need a fork brace for your motorcycle.

I use a footy as a fork brace, works heaps good and when you’re done riding you can kick the footy around

1:19 - That KTM ain't strapped down tight enough. Even the pro suspension guys will tell you, "if your worried crack the bleeder, and then crack it again at the track"

The bike in the video wasn't strapped down as tightly as it could have been and it was a bumpy road because the point was to demonstrate the problem. I transported my bikes for years without braces. They bounced and swayed on bumps and turns unless I ratcheted them down until the forks were nearly fully compressed, which I did not do. They weren't going anywhere but they did bounce and sway a lot. Then I bought braces and now they are rock solid without compressing the forks. I tried a 2x4 first but a brace is so much better if you get past the cost. Also, I use ratchet straps made for bikes, with the loop on the one end and with clips on the hooks. They can't fall off.

This might sound crazy but if you use something call ratchet straps they work really well and a 2x4 and your bike will never move

I've tied down tons of bikes, street and dirt, without braces. My last move was 2000 miles, and 3 bikes on a trailer. No leaking seals, no straps popped off, and 1 simple trick helped with it. Run a bungee between the hooks on your strap. That way if the bike does lean or bounce at all the bungee keeps the hooks in place by taking up the slack.

If you want to save your fork seals, just buy 12$ motion pro quick bleeders and let the air out of each fork after you strap the bike down. It relieves pressure on the seals. Then after you unload you bike, put it on the stand and use the quick bleeders to neutralize the pressure again. Quick and easy.

I want to see a pair of fork seals getting busted from being tied down to the trailer by a pair of ratchet straps. Seriously, one will trash the bike at the track or on trails but be worried about compression on a trailer. Come on

I enjoy rubbing air filter oil on my body.

Heck yeah I watch your “5 mistakes a beginner makes” video every time before I hit a track! Rock on!

16yrs in the Transport Industry taught me that most bike riders dont know how to secure a load properly 😜...Especially roadbike riders!
If you need a fork brace, you're doing it wrong.

Edit: Actually, shouldn't say that because people will think I mean just strap them down harder lol
What I shouldve said is, you dont need to pull the front end down so much that it requires the use of a brace.

I worked in the industry for years, never an issue. How do you think they secure road bikes including huge Harley Davidsons (were you can't use this) without issue? Two good straps, well used works perfectly. The tie straps on the other bike were not sufficiently tensioned. Keep it real.

I made one out of a 4x4 and 2x4 works great and is stronger and cheaper

I've got a old ufo fork brace.
Its gotta be over 20 years old. Best investment 👌 they do work.

Great accessory. I just started using it and really stabilized my bike. Just have to remember to remove it before trying to back your bike up.

I made one out of scrap pieces of wood I had laying around. Actually, works better than the plastic brace I bought from aliExpress ;)

It's a must for me on offroad trails. Sure, you can get by without it, if you're just going over gravel roads to a flat parking lot.

So we have been using a 3 in piece of pvc for over 10 years. Couple bucks for each bike. I'd say maybe 14 in long. Each bike will b different but go with PVC super cheap!
