We decided to take a trip up to Montana for a short vacation. Luckily this included being surrounded by amazing musicians such as Kassi Valazza, Riddy Arman, and Kiki Cavazos. Meeting most of these people for the first, we instantly knew we would all be great mountain friends. Late nights around the campfire, beers by the river, Montana stole our hearts.

Once upon a time on a weird lonely night in Austin, my friend Gus Clark showed me the amazing music from Kassi Valazza. Her music was an instant cure. Getting to capture a couple of songs had been on the bucket list since that drunken night in Austin.

A little bit about the song:

"This song is inspired by family. My dad was young when he left Arizona for the first time. He was pursuing his dream of playing music and I think his leaving was pretty hard for my grandma."

I havent seen my family in over two years due to working on the oil rigs. I heard this on my buddies spotify and I just felt my heart drop. It reminded me of home and the faces I havent seen in a long time. So I booked a flight and just landed back home. Wish me luck.

You’ll never hear it on the radio or CMT awards, but there is a real resurgence of some serious old school country sounds in the last few years and it makes me really happy. She’s such a talent, glad I stumbled upon her music:)

I left Texas at 17 and have spent the last 20 years wandering. I recently told my mama I was considering coming back and to hear the relief in her voice was a wake up call. This song hits like a ton of bricks. Poked me right in the heart and feeling lucky to have the ability to go back home.

My brother died five years back, and I had to tell my mom he was gone. It was the saddest and hardest thing I've ever faced. Last month, she passed away too, never getting over her loss. I pray they're both in heaven now. For the past four years, I've pictured them together in this song, and it always brings tears to my eyes. It's a beautiful song

This one hit me hard. My mom is gone now and we were estranged near the end of her life. No matter the reasons why, I have come to understand that my leaving was so hard on her. Wish I could still come home one more time. For all her faults, she loved me so much.

My mother passed 5 years ago, I was born on her birthday one of six children. She was and is always my light. I texted her every day sharing pics and humor. She always found beauty. “The snow falling did you hear me softly calling” brought me to tears. Every morning when I walk outside something brings a smile to my face, a smile I share with my mother.❤. This songs make me realize that it wasn’t just that she was there for me, but that I was there for her, one of her favorite birthday presents. Many thanks to you Kassi. Peace.

I feel like I’ve discovered a part of me that was missing through this new wave of western folk and country music. It gives me hope, in a strange way

When she's singing a bit higher, her voice reminds me a bit of Patsy Cline. This lady is the real deal!

This is real country music. Not that pop country garbage.
