The 2022 Subaru WRX (Pricing BELOW) has been rehauled with loads of goodies and changes for this new generation. Not only does it get a total exterior makeover, but it also has a whole new engine. Gone is the 2.0L and in is the 2.4L. Although it only makes 3 horsepower more than the previous model, the new WRX has quite a bit to show off for 2022. Thomas and James take this new WRX out for some canyon carving and loose-surface back road hooliganry. What will they think? Does this new WRX provide the same thrills as the previous generation? Watch to find out! SUBSCRIBE!

“A refined lumber jack is just a…barista.” Exactly why I watch this channel.

A 4-door AWD 6-speed turbo made in Japan with analog gauges and a real handbrake for under $35k?..this is unbelievably a great car..it’s like a classic Japanese sports car that can be bought new..I think some of us are just getting too spoiled.. 😊 this car will be dearly missed one day.

Just making sure you guys are constantly reminded that we massively appreciate the incredible production quality of every single one of your videos. Amazing stuff. Rivals anyone, anywhere.

Look, I'm almost 65 years old. I had an MG back in the day, a VW Corrado the year they were introduced, a Saab 900 Turbo and a Volvo C30. I loved them all but this WRX is the most fun of any car I've ever driven. If you're like me and can't afford a C8, or Porsche, or BMW (yecch) and don't want the maintenance woes and expense, I can't imagine anything better.

I thought these were hideous from the internet, but after seeing one in person i’ve totally changed my mind. They look pretty great in real life

The WRX is growing on me. Everyone always hates on the next gen WRX until everyone likes it.

Im up to my 8th Subaru, I had most of them, turbos, NA, Auto, manual, wagons, Suv's you name it! Here in Canada, the value of a Subaru is there. For me the last great Subaru was the 11-14 Wrx. Those cars had. Soul! Wagon, 2.5L turbo with Subaru Rumble, wide arches, simple interior. To have that same formula again in a large legacy wagon (family men need cool cars also) I would be in heaven!

Recently bought the 6 speed wrx and I am not disappointed in the slightest. Very minimal turbo lag, great feel and quality for the price. Definitely would recommend it to anyone.

Always the driver's point of view. Love the way in which you address usability and ergonomic issues. Thank you for such compelling, well-designed, and edited content! Nobody does car reviews like you - and you still celebrate manuals. Keep revving!

I still will never understand how they thought “let’s give the recaro seats to ONLY the model with the cvt”

I'm still completely attached to my 2013 sti. It's not the most popular opinion but I think that the stink eye is the best looking subaru with a balance of modern and old tech. Imo, 2013 was the last year subaru felt right.

Yeah, In Oregon USA. Called a bunch of dealers for this. None to be found. So… just bought a 2018 limited Sti, with no wing. No sales tax here . 20, 000 miles. Out the door for $ 39400. With new tires. Never drove the sti until three days ago. Very impressed. that thing is planted and rips. Real quick. Very happy. Take delivery in 2 days. Can’t wait months and months for this new Wrx. Oh yeah, mine actually Looks Good! Btw, this is by far my favorite channel.

Regardless of the looks, WRX still performs on the curves, dirtroad, asphalt and that's enough reason to buy it.

I just bought my first subaru at 56, having been a car guy my whole life. The overall impression so far is one of simple, uncompromising competence. If the WRX is anything like this, I can see why their followers are rabid badger loyal.

“A refined lumberjack is nothing more than a barista”. That’s great writing! TH rules out loud!

Subaru themselves said when they dropped the hatch for the 2015 model year, they didn't really notice a drop in sales much, if at all. That basically solidified its position in the grave. Saves them a lot of money and the customer doesn't care(proven with their wallet, where it counts. Also why manuals are dying cause people say they want them but then nobody buys them)

Another top-notch video from the best automotive review channel online. They always come across as knowledgeable without being pretentious, and the vids are very well done. Keep them coming, TH. Oh, and the "refined lumberjack/barista joke" had me rolling ... because it's true.

I've had a 24 premium 6 Speed Manual for a month now. I absolutely love this car. They solved some of the interior weirdness you point out in the 2024. I personally love the plastic cladding. This is my 5th Subaru (2 foresters, 1 3.6r Outback, 1 Crosstrek). You can say I am a Subi fan. The highest praise I can give it. My wife, who does have an outback but knows nothing about the history of the WRX absolutely loves driving this car and driving it fast.

I've had a 24 for
