One important thing you have to remember about us Natives is our love of humor and laughter. People like to think of us as serious and stoic, but really a lot of times we’re joking around and we laugh at ourselves.

My best friend was white and though out school, he'd come spend the weekend with us, run around and get dirty, and we'd ride horses and hike the mountains, and my late grandfather fell in love with him, called him grandson and when he passed away, he was one of the pallbearers, he cried just as much as we did, after high school, we parked ways, as friends and we know that we'll always be family

The grand finale is here! Family 10 of 10 🥹 What an amazing way to end this immersive cultural series. It's my favorite content I've ever filmed. The Native American episode is split into 3 videos. This is the first video and each one gets more epic. Native American culture is full of generosity, love, spirituality, community, and more. I feel so much more educated on their culture and comfortable interacting with the people in a respectful way. Hopefully it's the same for you too!

You were definitely accepted, when a native picks or teases that means we think of you as being close. We wouldn’t joke around with people we don’t think are good people, we might come off as mean but if you snap a joke right back at us I guarantee you we’ll bust out laughing and give you loud “MLAH” jk

Love seeing people who aren’t our people respecting our culture and our ways and showing people our culture and how we are not scary and we aren’t bad we are just people who care about our culture and a lot of the time is spent with us with us laughing and spending time with family. What I’m trying to say is thank you this video, love from the Me-Wuk people and great great great great granddaughter of a chief❤❤

Natives have such a fun humor. We play pranks and to outsiders it might seem like insults or teasing but it's with love.
Much like some Asian cultures, we are more polite in formal situations. If we pick at you and make jokes and give you a hard time, you're one of us now. If we smile and nod, we are listening to your character and your heart and will be over polite until we know you better. If we don't know you well enough to be open with you, we will still be kind and polite but you won't get razzed.
We are also a very giving culture and that fact has been abused a lot throughout history. If you are in need, we will do all we can to help.
There are around 500 different tribes in North America and each has a unique heritage, culture and practices. We don't all look the same, sound the same, dress the same or have the same spiritual beliefs. We hold different things sacred and dance different dances but we are all still here.
Come to a powwow! Dance with us! Eat some good food and learn some real history.

Aw I wouldn't have come across your channel if not for these videos. Obv I'm so happy to see someone take interest in our culture, we're proud of it and ready to share, but I think this series you're doing is not only important for us but for everyone in the US and Canada as well. The world is so divided politically, and racism is alive and well, so it's beautiful to see one person take interest in another culture with such an open mind and open heart. Miigwetch (Thank you).

Also, some further docs/resources if anyone would like to learn more about what Devan touched on in terms of hunting. There are two documentaries you might be interested in called "Cree Hunters of Mistassini" and "Diet of Souls". Also, anthropologist Harvey Feit has a lot of work on subsistence hunting, he's a good reference.

In Sweden where I live we learn in history about different countries indigenous groups, such as the native Americans and their history and current living conditions. I’m immersed how little the Americans know compared to me as a swede about their own indigenous people

Totally enjoyed your journey, I am Native American and live in Hawai'i. Where I started watching and ending it with this is absolutely beautiful. Native sarcasm is a bit of an adjustment, like Hawaiian. ❤😅

My little family and I are 100% Navajo. A few years ago we moved to Clermont FL, when we first meet people here they have no idea what Native Americans and Navajo are! It’s crazy insulting, sad and disrespectful. It makes me sad.
Educate urself people we r still around u, everywhere you are.
