Customers have incredibly high rates of vitriol for Comcast and Spectrum. When these companies had veritable monopolies on TV & Internet service, they knew that they had their feet on our necks and they ACTED like they knew it. People I know wish bankruptcy on these companies. I don't think the hatred of former customers is changing any time soon. Current streaming companies should learn from this.

I would never go back to Comcast for Internet service because of their sleazy business practices.

I dumped Comcast 4 years ago cause I had 90 day business trip away. When I came back, I got a Roku, an antenna and switched to T-mobile and got 5G home internet, locked at $50 month.

I'm currently a Comcast Xfinity customer. I'm watching them they have data caps and keep raising cable prices even with contract. His language is concerning and I'll probably cancel both my cable and the internet. I live in a rural area, so not a whole lot of options. I'm not happy with them. Keep it up Comcast not only will you cut expenses you will continue to lose customers.

EarthLink? Goodness I haven’t heard that in a while used to have DialUp growing up.

I'm a Spectrum customer. Recently I started a 2-week trial subscription to YouTube TV, just to see what it was like. I liked it and called Spectrum to tell them to drop my cable TV and just keep Internet and phone.
Suddenly they found a way to supply streaming TV with cloud-based DVR for roughly the same price as YTTV. Previously I'd been paying $50 for 3 DVR receivers + DVR service. I don't subscribe to any premium services through them. My total bill had been over $260, now it's $189.
Nowhere is streaming TV advertised on their Website or in their commercials. You need to threaten to drop their cable TV service in order to get it.
Does anyone have any idea why they do this? Does Comcast operate the same way?
I can't wait until there are other options for Internet in my area.

This describes me with Cox: I went from Cable plus internet with ceiling...to internet only with +$50 no ceiling. I get my local live tv fix from Paramount+ and Peacock. I miss live tv but not to the point of $1000s a year. Live local tv needs to survive (the local part, not the "wheel of fortune" part).

New here and to Roku, what you bring is very useful and I want to thank you. Looking forward to what Max is and what it offers. Thanks again for your inputs. 👍👍

Keeping traditional cable is the same mentality as Sun tv, Woolworth and Kmart/Sears. Gone with the dinosaurs.

After 30 years I am no longer a customer of Comcast. They were my only choice then, I have cut the cord. I have T-mobile now.

I'm in a low-income social housing project here in Toronto and Rogers, the local cable provider, has just installed a 96-fiber cable. They have not placed any equipment in the boxes and have yet to complete the headend connection. some of that work was done this week with it being spliced to the street pole. So I think eventually we will be replacing the copper with fiber. The problem in this building is that the cable tv wire is located outside the building and people have been balcony climbing (Extremely dangerous, a person fell nine stories several years ago) to harvest the copper wire for scrapping. So, this is the motivation for moving to fiber. As for why 96 fibers tthe minimum standard for any cable, it is notable being installed by Rogers. I will let you know what happens once the equipment is placed into the boxes on the side of the building.

My city doesn't have access to any of those choices you mentioned. It's cable, satellite, or nothing.

It sounds like the cable companies are going to have to upgrade their plant. The same coax on my street was last replaced 30 years ago. Fiber would solve their bandwidth problem.

I live in the Northeast and have Comcast. There are no data caps here, but people here do hate them and I've had problems with them in the past. I don't think they'll be able to keep traditional cable customers. Streaming is so much better. I only do that and don't use cable anymore. I think it will be around for older people, but when they pass away, I think cable will go away. That might sound bad, but that's my opinion based on what I've seen.

I am a Comcast sub and can't see myself switching off until live streaming becomes more reliable and my monthly $$ is decreased. It seems like we're hearing more situations from YTTV and Fubo where there are streaming and buffering issues during live sports broadcasts. Also, my Comcast bill, with discounts, is almost equal to what I would pay if I went Google Fiber, Fubo/YTTV and added HBO. I can see a day when Comcast goes streaming app only (I already do this with 2 TVs and it works fine), but going all-in on broadband won't work IMO because of the options you mention. I'm hesitant to go with a Verizon home internet. Not a great signal on my phone now and too many stories of issues.

Going out of business will lower their overhead permanently. A Uber drive that doesn't drive saves on tire wear! Comcast running from their reputation and hiding out as Spectrum didn't work long..

Remember the days when you had to lease your (landline) phone from the phone company? I can see where the cable companies will start providing just broadband service, and it's up to the customer to pay a 3rd party for whatever service or hardware he/she wants.

I have a home office in my apartment. My apartment complex is remodeling every unit so they are requiring everyone to move within the complex. My Internet is through Spectrum Business. The tech doing my first move when we were testing the speed told me that Spectrum is switching from asynchronous to synchronous connection speed starting sometime within the next 6 months without changing the price. I look forward to this change.
