My routine right now is all Cerave and The Ordinary and my skin is loving it. I pay most for sunscreen. I feel like if you are just starting out you should start at the lower price points because if they work then you are set and don't have to spend ridiculous amounts on products and if they don't work, you didn't spend too much.

I feel like so many times I’m buying a product not for it’s benefit but for it’s price. We often buy expensive things because public discourse has taught us that expensive is better. I’m guilty of this as well because let’s face it buying something expensive often makes us feel good. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that, but the main point is you shouldn’t feel like you HAVE to buy the expensive option. I have both drugstore and luxury skincare in my routine. In the end, buy the things that work for you and you love.

You’ve made me change my skincare routine (and James Welsh, Leah Yoo), for the happiness of both my wallet and skin! Within one year, my hormonal acne has almost disappeared, the overall appearance and health of my skin has dramatically improved. I’m now leaning more to nicer formulas, the Ordinary is amazing but most products feel sticky on my skin. I prefer the Kbeauty, Inkey List and Paulas Choice.

I would love a video on the effects of hyaluronic acid varying by a location’s relative humidity. I live in a super dry environment, and hyaluronic products don’t add moisture to my skin but dry me out! There’s so little moisture in our air, the HA pulls the moisture out of my skin rather than from the air. Occlusives are my friends. :)

Can you do a video about benzene? I've watched Cassandra, Dr. Dray talking about that, it's a big problem about sunscreens which cointains benzene. Of course we should use sunscreen but avoid for a while brands which use benzene.

It's definitely a toss up. I think I've finally nailed down my routine and it's a mix of drugstore and high end. The best thing we can do is to watch reviews from multiple sources, check the ingredient list, and look at brand ethics to determine what could work for our skin. You won't always need to spend lots of money for quality skincare, but if your skin absolutely loves a higher end formulation, then it's absolutely worth the money. And on the flip side, if your skin absolutely loves the inexpensive product more, then save a little there. Balance is a beautiful thing!
