Ninjago Soundtrack - Zane's Death - Jay Vincent and Michael Kramer

This is one of the most loved pieces of music from the Ninjago TV Show, having played at the climax of episode 34, "The Titanium Ninja", when Zane sacrificed himself to defeat the Golden Master. It's an absolutely wonderful piece, and of all the series' music, it's one of the best. The track's real title is "Built to Protect", although for people to find it easier, the video is titled "Zane's Death". The track is also briefly reprised during the season finale episode "Lost in Time".

Analysis: Up to 0:22, we hear a dramatic reprise of The Overlord's theme, followed by a chanting piece that was later used in season four's trailer, which is played up to 0:43. A brief reprise of Garmadon's theme plays until 0:47, followed by a creepy version of The Overlord's theme until 1:03. A new cue plays until 1:14, at which point a dramatic version of the overture plays until 1:28. The overture is followed by a dramatic new theme until 2:06. This is followed by a sad choral piece - a rendition of Dr. Julien's theme, which plays until 3:04. The music ends with a grim fade-out that creates a void for the ending of the scene.

I hope you enjoy! Feel free to comment, like and subscribe for more. A big "thank you" to YouTuber Astrid16 for uploading this track to YouTube, and to Jay Vincent and Michael Kramer for making this beautiful piece, and for sending it to Astrid as well. Thank you all so much!

Music by Jay Vincent and Michael Kramer

I do not own any of the music or footage featured in this video. This video was uploaded to allow people the pleasure of listening to the music. The footage played alongside it was put it in place with the original scene. I am not making a profit off of this video in any way.

I'm 15 now but I grew up watching Ninjago and I remember finding it again on Netflix and I finished this season. This last episode made me cry so hard. I'm usually tough and don't cry but the music and the fact that it's a character I grew up with sacrificing himself bravely just had me in tears.

Dude. I’m almost 18. A freaking adult. But this scene makes me tear up like hell. The music, the dialogue, the flashbacks, it’s perfectly executed.

Three sacrifices made in this cartoon, and this is the biggest tear-jerker.

I just realized the saddest thing ever.
Zane is a robot, that means he can't die of old age.
But the others can.
That means he will live to watch all of his friends (except P.I.X.E.L) die.
Thats sad.

This makes you think, Zane of all people, was the only person who could withstand, let alone defeat the overlord in the form of The Golden Master. When he first joined Sensei Wu's team of four young men who had great potential, he had no idea who he really was other then an orphan with no memory of family. But as time went on, he realized he had a family who cared for him. When he found out he was a robot. He learned the truth. And in the end, He lost his father, but didn't give up on the rest of his friends. I feel like deep down, he knew he would eventually sacrifice himself for those he loved. When that time did come, he faced it boldly, and accepted the fact that by sacrificing himself.. he was saving everything he loved. I've never stopped being amazed at how much feeling he had for people that he might as well have considered unimportant at first. And in the end, he knew they didn't want him to be cast out of the lives they lived.
I always feel that when he said, "Its not about numbers, its about family" He was saying his promise he made Throughout his Life as a ninja once more. He would put his family first.

I remember myself literally crying as a child seeing Zane’s death
Seriously though watching Zane’s heart beat stop is terrifying

Fun fact:
The score used when zane had his flashbacks before his ultimate sacrifice is the exact same as the music choice in season 8 intro episode 79, in which zane got beaten in a 1v1 against Mr.E
Man I love this show!

Girls cried during titanic.
Boys cried when Melee Fox got nerfed.
Men cried at the end of the Tournament of Elements.
Kings cried at Smash Ultimate’s main theme.
Gods cried when Zane died.

This scene gave me goosebumps. I almost cried. And to think I didn't like the show from the beginning until there was nothing on TV. I think it was destiny for me to watch the show. Now, I'm hooked! :P

2:08 they reused this theme in season 8 where zane, well, kind of died again. hearing it took me back to this scene
