Belive it or not in Australia, in the early ninteen sixties when I was in Primary School, I was taught to count seconds
One Mississippi, Two Mississippi, Three Mississippi, ect.

Way over in Sydney, Australia!

By the way, I love your video's. I especially like your "space launches" where you involve the wide range of developing talents of your students and involve all of them.
I wish that I had a teacher like YOU, when I was in high school. What you are doing is VERY impressive!
Your students are very fortunate, and, are developing exceptionally!
I have been watching for years. Well done!

Best wishes.

Hello Paul, it was really hard to install Python, VPython and physerial on a Mac with OS-X. But now - after many unsuccessful attempts - I am really happy: it works and I could start my first example program! Now I am looking forward to discovering new possibilities with the new programming language. Thanks for Your teaching and greetings from Germany :-)

HI Paul... Growing up in Northside Chicago in 1970s I remember learning "X Mississippi" counting from friends in neighborhood. We would use it for counting while playing the game "Tag" or "Ghost in the Graveyard."

I totally counted 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, 3 .... as a kid! When counting for freeze tag or something it was “10 Mississippi’s!” I grew up in Louisiana if it helps!

Also loving the videos. Finished the new Arduino and new Python videos but ran out so going back and seeing the rest!!

Thank you for this! I've been using a LOT of python and a moderate amount of usage with the Raspberry Pi. I now have to introduce an Arduino into the mix and you just save me a ton of time!!

Woot, got it to work! I'm using Sublime Text 2 as my IDE (go to tools then build for Python then choose build to run the Python codes in ST2) with Python 3.4.3 and didn't really want to uninstall it until I have to for the Vpython projects. Pretty exciting stuff because I know that PHP and Python can create text files so a text file might be a good way to pass data to a website or get data from one; thus allowing a cell phone to control Arduino ~_^

Thanks again for all the great projects - can't wait to learn more about Python since I barely looked into it a year ago or so. Peace - gl all.

After finishing the most excellent first Arduino course, I am starting the Arduino-Python course. I am concerned that the material is old enough that some of may not work now. I assume that if the course were written now it would use Python 3.X. Your tutorials are truly excellent, Paul!

Just looked into Arduino and was distraught at seeing the programs in C (or at least I think it is?). You would not believe my delight when I searched "Arduino and python" to find this video!
Thanks for this series mate.
