I’ve tried so many different flat roof solutions through the years, after a while you start having very strong opinions, especially when you put a lot of work in and the roof leaks. Or you fix it and six months later you’re fixing it again. Modified Bitumen has been battle tested for many years and I’ve never had a problem with it. The cost is about the same so I don’t play games anymore I just go right to the torch down roof systems.

I have used this personally on 3 roofs for my 125-year-old house. It's really pretty easy to put down. it forms to any contour or shape. It patches super easy just cut a shape out of the roll that fits what you need to patch get a small torch and heat it in. really great stuff to work with. It really seals. i installed 40# tar paper first nailing it down often, then torched the material into that. The only issue i have now is finding non fibered UV coating for it. I guess I am going to have to go to the fibered stuff. I think that might be harder to patch if i ever need it. The new roofing can be obtained with infused gravel coating so that serves as the UV protector. This came out about 2 years after i put mine down. I think it would be better, considerably less maintenance I think.

If ya torch down to metal you have to prime it with asphalt primer or will not stick for long especially in a cold climate and don’t torch to wood could smolder and light on fire when done torching should do a fire watch afterwards check for hot spots

I thought TPO was also melted together. Or welded together.
