There's people in genuine need that won't call 911 so they won't feel like they're being an inconvenience. And then there's this guy.

As an ER nurse I had a lovely gentleman come in during a terrible snow storm. Staff had to stay overnight because the weather was so bad. He called 911. They had to park about 1/4 mile away and slog through the weather and snow to get him for his KNEE PAIN for the last 5 years. After being seen and recommended to an orthopedic doctor, he told me to call the ambulance guys back to take him home. He certainly didnt want his family to drive to come get him in this weather. He ended up sleeping in the cafeteria that night begging for money to get food from staff. Ambulance rides he learned are 1 way. Bet he was shocked at the bill!

Can we give props to this guy? He probably spent years studying to become a paramedic and is still charismatic enough to entertain us.

The genuine mix of frustration, anger, and malice in "just grab the bags and shut up Jason" was impressive.

The voice in his head “don’t kill him, he’s idiotic and annoying but prison’s worse”

Registering someone for abnormal labs at two o'clock in the morning and they got the lab results back three days ago. It's always a highlight of my night.

Thank you!
Because of Your shorts I signed up for my local Fire Department, and I passed the physical, the Ladder, the EMT, and my psy.
I am now in training for onsite treatment of stab and blade injuries.
Bless you, because of YOU I'll be able to save lives.

I appreciate every single one of our first responders the amount of crap they gotta go through along with the trauma.

Well that Doctor sounds like a soon to be recipient of a very angry phone call...

Or a brick through the window.

This is why I dont like asking folks if they need anything else. There's always something else that I absolutely don't want to do

reminds me of the time i drove home at like 3am, and there was a deceased deer on the road. so, when i got to a place where i could stop, i called the police station where i lived, as i had that (non-emergency) number stored on my phone, so that they could relay it to the appropriate nearby station. as i only had prepaid cell phone, i could not look that up myself. the person there was... not helpful. told me to call the emergency number, and confirmed it after my surprised objection, saying that ppl call that for much less important stuff.
so... i called the emergency number. that person was not amused, and i sensed he was about to rip me a new one, when i told him that other station told me to call him. i don't think that original person had a pleasant rest of the night...

This is SO common in germany and i hate it to the bone! As someone who works as a paramedic for 14 years, nothing is more frustrating to arive at your "emergency", with all the wheeewhooowheeewhooo only to find packed bags and a waveing relative, who could EASLY taken the patient to the hospital by themselves!

Greetings from germany❤
