Man’s splitting wood barefoot and that’s probably the most clean and perfectly seasoned firewood I’ve ever seen.

Love the top down method. Taught it by my sweep, the big advantage is that having the kindling further up warms the cold flue better which creates better draft to get the fire going.

We always started our wood fires this way. My dad was a great man who did many things very efficiently. He never did anything the hard way.

I learned this method from my boy scout leader Mr. John Penny in the early 60's. He was a great man that taught us to live on the land in the wild. He's been gone for many years now but the knowledge he gave me lives on in my grandchildren.

That’s what I was taught in the early 90’s by my father. Still do it to this day.

As a young father your channel is outstanding. This knowledge I cherish from older men like you and my father that keep traditions alive and well! Thank you

Known as an "Upsidedown fire" we have used it for many decades growing up in Alaska. Works great! 🤘
