Glad I backed this game. My 9 yr old is a veteran gamer and loves "take that" elements. My 5 yr old is newer and can have trouble grasping more complicated concepts, and I was so glad about the Family Mode so that we can all have fun building together.

The stacking 3D nature of the game looks interesting, but I'm a little concerned about the take-that element. Most of the people I play with don't like kicking down other people sand castles (more literally in this game). I guess you could just not choose to play that way, but it may be the best strategic move which could be awkward.
