For all his talent on guitar, especially for his time, it was never overshadowed by his love to create beautiful sounding pieces of music. To realize a song in its purest form, all nonsense and superfluous stripped away, is a hard thing to do. Jimi was always so true to himself, confessed by his lyrics and emotions on guitar. Castles made of sand is one of those songs

When I was a young man I went to Marco to the very castle the song was tied into, expectations of hippy chicks and far out times were not met but an old castle built by the Portuguese stood with the time and tide rolling through it. We had a smoke and laid there, 35 years on it still invokes powerful emotions. Jimmy bless you and the many gifts you left us
