Chemist here, the scrubber material is a mixture of different chemicals, usually calcium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, different stabalizers, and water (most of these are pretty alkaline so please dont eat them). When you breathe into the loop the carbon dioxide reacts with the water and calcium hydroxide, which makes it very alkaline. The problem with flooding the system is not that it makes it alkaline (it already is), its that the diver is now in contact with the caustic water solution.

And it does still work when the scrubber is completely submerged, just far less effective.

I’m not sure how y’all have done it but you guys have created a following of people who mostly don’t dive and most likely will never dive, but they love the content.

99% of channels out there with a specific niche would never be able to gather a audience that’s not involved with that specific niche.

I’m not a diver and never will be but words can’t describe how much I love hearing the stories on your channel. Keep up the great work Guys! And congrats on slimming down Gus!👍🏼
