Hey Jen, you could also inhale with chamomile tea, it's softer on the airways and works well for me. Fun video. :)

I never heard of nose shower. The scarf thing actually was done with a wet tissue. Halswickel

Instead of an inhaler it is enough to have a bowl with hot water and some drops of Japanisches Heilpflanzenöl (menthoil) or camomile tea and a towel that you can put over the head while inhaling. An additional inhaler would just use some space.
That oil is also useful in some other cases such as muscular pains.

When I saw my general practitioner because I had a nasty cold some years ago, the very first question and recommendation was: Do you always wear a scarf to keep your throat warm?
About medication, there's the old popular wisdom in Germany that "a cold takes 14 days with medication, and two weeks without medication...".
I haven't had a cold for some years now, but when I do, I like to use my Nasendusche before going to bed. Feels very strange, at first, but it helps.

We do all these five things in my country Afghanistan.
Number four is almost the same we do. We don't habe that shower bottle let's say, instead we put some salt in a glass with warm water, then we pour water in our hand and try to breath it in our nose by sucking the salty water with our nose.
The ginger, lemon tea is awesome and very effective.
I usually have about 5 big cup of it everyday with honey. In only 2 days i can say i recover 80%.

Nose showers are scientifically proofed. I use them, too. It reduces the sweiling, and has a slight antibacterial effect. And it has a mechanical effect of just spilling bacteria out.

Als a German I am guilty of knowing all of theese "treatments". And also I do all of those things exept of inhalation. Other stuff that you also can do as a German is eating chicken soup and using infrared light.

I haven't heard it called a "nose shower" before. This comes from India. It is based on the neti pot in India and this is a very old remedy that works well to cut the duration of a cold.

I use an electronic neti pot from NeilMed and it is called a sinus rinse. I use it clean the dust and pollen out of my nose and sinuses, so I have less issues with pollen. I use it to clean my nose when I have bad allergies and need to breathe! It works well.

In USA we boil the water for 5 mins to clean and sanitize the water, add the saline packet, let it cool to room temperature and then add it to the machine. I keep sanitized water in a closed container, so I don't have to boil it each day.

I use my NeilMed sinus rinse machine to cut off sinus infections and allergies. It works well. I use it each morning and evening to prevent allergies (then I can take less allergy medicine pills). I use it 8-10x a day when I have a sinus infection or cold to cut down the duration of my cold or sinus infection.

In USA we use a device for the Sinuses called a Nettie pot;resembles a small tea pot, but I like Yvonne’s design better & ease of use. I’ll add more later. I’m nursing a crushed left shoulder. 💁🏽‍♂️

My dad used to have a nose shower and I tried it out when a was a child and made the same experience like Jen. Twenty years later i had a cold when I was at my aunts place and I tried again. Now I am a big fan of the nose shower. It really helps. You get all the stuff out and can breathe again. At least for a short time. So YES to the nose shower!
I was wondering why you didn't mention the Rotlicht. My mum still tells me to do it when I have a cold. I think it's very popular in Germany but I find it quite useless.
