Once you turn the ratio into improper fractions, 7/4:5/2, you can just multiply both fractions by 8 and it won't mess up the proportions. Gives you 28/4:40/2, or 14:20 😄 Simpler procedure

20 and i'm halfway through. Knew the early steps too

7/4:5/2
Make denominators same:
7/4:10/4
This means 7:10, so 14:20

Thought of 1 3/4 in 1/8 increments then 2 1//2 in 1/8=20

Does anyone have some type of way to know when reciprocals come into play? I always forget all of the dang steps in fractions and it is tormenting me. You know is there a acronym like PEMDAS to help me remember them all and when to use them?

20 is answer. Why? I reduced the 14/20 in simplest form which is 7/10, cross-multiplied with 7/10=14/x into 7x=140, and divided both sides by 7 equals to 20.

A shortcut. Since it's looking for 14. Turn 7/4 into 14/8. Multiply 8 on both sides.

5/2 * 8 is now 5 * 4, which is 20. gg

7/4 to get 14 multiply by 8. 5/2 times 8 is 20.

First thing I thought of was cross multiplication 😓

1 and (3/4) can be re-written as (7/4).

2 and (1/2) can be re-written as (5/2).

(7/4) to (5/2)

=(7/4)÷(5/2)

=(7/4)*(2/5)

=(14/20)

Since we already have 14 in the numerator, and we're asked to find the ratio as 14 to some number, that number is 20, and we are now done with this problem.

GG.

bruh just divide 14 by the first ratio and multiply that to the second ratio boom simple

well... a WAY MORE simplified version of calculating 8th grade Direct Proportion!

1¾= 1+3/4= 4/4 + 3/4 = 7/4
2½=1+1/2=2 + 1/2= 4/2 + 1/2 = 5/2
(7/4)/(5/2)= 7/4 * 2/5 = 14/20
