Watermelon 🍉
This watermelon was $4 from Aldi. It created 12 containers of packaged watermelon, which would cost $4 each at the store. Preparing all of this took less than 10 minutes. The key is having good kitchen logistics. Follow for more meal prep recipes and tips! 🙌🏽👨🏽🍳
Ingredients/Items:
-one large watermelon
-16oz deli food containers
-sharp chef’s knife
-large cutting board
-waste bowl for rind scraps
-kitchen towel
Instructions:
-place watermelon in fridge for 4-6 hours to cool (optional)
-place large cutting board on counter (put a wet paper towel underneath cutting board to prevent slipping)
-have waste bowl to your left, kitchen towel for wiping the cutting board to your right, and deli containers close by
-cut watermelon in half and then in half again
-slice across the quarters about 1” apart
-pick up each slice and slice down to the rind about 1” apart
-pick up the piece and slice across to create a grid pattern, holding the slice above the deli containers
-the 1”x1” pieces should fall into the deli containers
-repeat, wiping down the cutting board as needed
-place lid on containers and store in fridge for up to 5 days
