In this video I show you how I play new grass chords in the style of Sam Bush. I demonstrate it for Cherokee Shuffle that is a cool old-time tune in the key of A-major. It´s an easy-going melody with a forward-moving chord progression. Pay attention to my voicing of the chords. Am, D5, E5 and F#m7. Sheet music/tabs, backing track, play-a-long and instructions for this tune you’ll find in Mandolin Secrets Academy.

I really like the sound of this. I don't really play bluegrass but I think I could do this in a pinch without learning the traditional method.

Yes, I use these chord shapes on a regular basis. They are a little something different when others are using the chop chords.
Thank you Magnus.

Cool, Magnus. Yes, I use these chords all the time. I don't play bluegrass, so I rarely use the Bill Monroe voicing.

The "new grass chords" you play, are not chords, but double stops Sam Bush uses them a lot. They work best when the lead is played on fiddle or another mandolin. They are to me, too mid range to go along with a guitar or even a banjo solo . My two cents.
