100, 000RMB that is roughly $13, 800USD for a 2000km range. Even with a 100% tariff in the US that BYD DMi car is still priced lower than 95% of the basic cars sold here. It amazes me how BYD can build something like that at that price range and still make profit. They really have EV manufacturing down to a science. Mind blowing. Just imagine how beneficial this can be for low income families here in the US if ppl could buy it for $13, 800USD. It would literally provide ppl with social and economic mobility and find jobs far away where they are not dependent on waiting on the bus. These tariffs do nothing but hurt low and middle income American families.

The U8 could sell very well in the UK. Range Rovers are so easy to steal it’s impossible to get them insured. So if it’s secure it could sell very well.

This is the exact reason why the West is panicking and has set up trade barriers and tariffs against Chinese EVs like BYD. They suddenly find themselves difficult to compete after neglecting EVs for a long time and all the associated variables such as having a large team of qualified and educated engineers (mechanical, electrical and chemical) in their country. For far too long, anyone going into the "noble" sciences in the West, are regarded as "nerds" with little respect paid. Students in sports get the attention, the financial rewards and the accolades instead. Well, the rooster has now come home and calling out the chickens and discovering that the hens have been asleep at their nests.
