The day you're unable to complete your duties as a police officer due to fear should be your last day on the job. Full stop. Don't care what regulations, supreme court rulings, bosses say etc. The day you leave children in a school with a gunman for an hour and wait for someone else to come do the job should be the day your entire department is fired and you rethink everything. There's absolutely nothing about some of these departments that are to "protect and serve". They don't know how to do anything outside of being a localized mobile IRS taxing their citizens for things so menial that they themselves break the same laws that they ticket for multiple times a day. So glad I decided not to go down that career path. There's more accountable, empathetic and honorable people among warehouse workers, laborers and delivery drivers lol

this is disgusting, it doesn't matter if he's in a room alone or not, he entered a school with two rifles and the cops only response was "we need more equipment" it was literally 19 against 1 and they couldn't just man up and take out the threat and 19 kids had to die because the people payed to protect people are too afraid of getting shot to save the lives of children

When seconds count, 19 cops will be there listening to you die. Every single one of them should get 21 consecutive life sentences. That kind of desertion in the military can result in the death penalty.

This is sad. I work as a school resource officer and everyday I make sure all the doors are secured, nobody enters without access and always go through crisis rehearsal on what could happen during the day. I pray that we never have an attack on any of the schools that I work in but I stay trained and ready in case that day comes.

I don't know a man who wouldn't have risked his life to save these children! What have we turned our police force into? Shameful! Men and women in law enforcement are supposed to save people's lives and restore order, that is why I show them respect. If they can't do the job, you need to remove them, you cannot teach bravery, you have it or you dont!

They should all be fired plain and simple if an unarmed teacher has the courage to protect the kids and risk her life then there's no reason 19 officers with body armor and guns shouldn't risk theirs cowards all of them fire them all and they should never be allowed to be a cop anywhere else

I want to thank all police for stopping real criminals. Stopping the guys who have to take a emergency leak outside, people who do donuts at quiet empty intersections. These cowards need to be fired, and lose all of their benefits! Every single one of them! They are nothing but bystanders. And to top it off. They stopped the parents from going in to rescue their children. You can’t tell me that none of the officers in the hallway out side the room couldn’t hear the gunfire and children screaming!

Our main solution cannot be more police in schools, single-points-of-entry, single buildings, etc. Each of those options only start to be effective AFTER the gunman is geared up and on scene. At best, those options may limit the number of people who die. Our main defense has to be prevention, not mitigation.

2. Make the target afraid that some inevitable, horrible thing is going to happen to them soon.
3. Provide a solution (the actual scam).
4. Get the target to act on the solution as fast as possible, while still caught up in the shock and panic created by Steps 1 and 2.
