I loved the honest review. That's the difference between a paid promotion and something you've brought with your own money. That was a highly useful review. Thank you for that. Keep up the awesome work you guys are doing.

Finally someone who knows how to review with value in mind.

Great video. Just a small point about editing. I can edit h.265 on my ipad mini 2019. Cost £500 for the 256gb model, and I use Lumafusion, which cost £20. It edits it as smooth as butter.

I have also had my Mavic 2 Pro for almost a year, and I agree with everything you say about it. It is an amazing drone for sure, but it may be too much for some people given the cost. I figured I am getting ready for retirement in a year and a bit so I figured I would go big and get this bad boy! Thanks for the honest review, and hi from British Columbia, Canada!

This review is done by a professional videographer and is well done. But honestly, I doubt very much that most drone pilots will ever be concerned with the ability to do this kind of detailed video editing. So the Zoom would be a better buy to use for day to day flying since the 2X or 4X zoom function ( 4x in 1080) is so very useful on it's own for the average pilot. I have a pilot friend with 6 DJI drones who uses it around the world, and he uses the Zoom almost exclusively even though he also owns the Pro as a backup. For the record, he does video editing
I guess the lesson here is to determine exactly what you need before you spend a significant amount of money up

Hi.
When I was searching for the right drone for me, the mavic 2 was a myth that only Vloggers were talking about and the original mavic was the go-to foldable drone that everyone was using.

Naturally, I eventually gave up on the possibility of a mavic 2 and bought a mavic pro. I was busy learning how to fly and doing battle with a number of drone police when the mavic 2 was realised.

Watching all the vloggers, who had it beforehand, and telling you that it's the best drone ever - I was tempted to buy the pro version (zoom version doesn't bring enough to the party to consider it over the original mavic!).

But, here's the kicker - after waiting for all the hype to dissipate, I now view the mavic 2 with new eyes. With all these new laws in the pipeline, I have decided to wait! The original mavic pro dose everything I need and it has loads of air time in it, so bring on the mavic 3!

Hello Stewart,

I really apprecciate the honesty in this review. There was one issue that I was not even aware of, the Barrel Distorion, so thanks for that. I have been on the fense about purchasing this drone upgrade for...well since it came out. You did not make any mention of its predecessor, the Mavic Pro, 1st edition. I am curious as to why that is? You reference the phantom 4 and even the phantom 3, but never anything about the original Mavic Pro. The original Mavic Pro is my main drone in my arsenal, I actually have 2 of them and a Solo that I only really to fly for fun.

So my pros for this upgrade was as follows.
1) Added 360 degree obstacle avoidence sensors.
2) 1" sensor on camera
3) Upgraded timelapse capabilities
4) 10 bit, H.265 feature

Cons...
1) No option for h.264 D-cinelike
2) Why....why is there no Full 4K at 60fps option? Thios camera should be capable of this..

These are my main issues about this drone, so this is defintiley just my opinions i am addrtessing

My 1000$ custom built PC has a lot better GPU and CPU performance than +2000$ Apple laptops. Apple laptops just make no sense.

you dont need to buy a 2000$ macbook pro at all.. it literally pays to know computer gear. LOL! you can build a $500 computer than wont struggle at all with HEVC/H.265 video at all..

Having just upgraded my computer, I think I’ll stick to my first-gen Mavic Pro for now. Thanks for the honest review!

Thanks a million. I was thinking of upgrading from my Mavic Air so it's great to get some insight. My main pain point with MA is battery life and only 12mp photos, as opposed to 20mp (which my phone has!). thanks!

Well this is making me second guess my Mavic 2 Pro purchase recently.
I’m still waiting for it to be delivered.. now I’m thinking maybe I should have got the Mavic 2 Zoom instead.
My editing skills are very basic but I wanted a drone to take great photos & videos & the Mavic 2 Pro was within my budget. However if I’m not going to be benefiting from the high quality & editing that will be needed maybe I should have saved a little money & gone for the Mavic 2 Zoom instead.

I don´t really like to say this (prefer to find shortcoming in electronics) but that drone was and still are amazing! Personally I feel that it can get the job done and more. Proxy editing is essential for exact "beat"-editing. I have a monster of a computer but to get the exact timing in editing, proxy is the way to go. Love your channel and get well soon (you sound like you have a cold). Thumbs up from Sweden!

Great summary! I have an old high end computer with i7-2800, 32 gig ram. I upgraded my graphics card to an nvidia 1070 (300 euro second hand) and found that the h265 4k footage plays back acceptably well if editing from an ssd drive. Sometimes a budget upgrade tweak can make the diffence when working from a station at pc

Thanks, Exactly matched my experience with it.
One thing - Davinci Resolve has a free version and a paid (one time $299 - all upgrades included) version and allows for proxies and amazing color features. No need to spend huge amounts of money on that.
Personally, my biggest gripe with it is that when flying using any automated software (Litchi, Autopilot, Ground Station, etc.) any panning is jerky and definitely not smooth. Until they fix that I will hold on to my P4P. Other than that, it is still the one I grab by default these days.
