To be fair, Carol didn’t just leave him but quite literally dragged him along with her despite still clearly being in love with hall and left him at the alter. A moment that could’ve all been avoided if Carol was real with him from the get go instead of playing him like a fool. Dood, I know the sorrow lantern has issues, but he's in pain, and like most other ring slingers, his ring amplifies his pain. And if you've had a broken heart, it always hurts without some type of closure. The "it's not you it's me" speech.
He needs his boys to take him out for strippers and clubbing to either forget his pain or remind him there's more past it.

I don't agree, at all, with the "Nate is an incel" take. At no point he blames women for his sorrows. He is sad/mad at Carol for pretending to love him and leaving him at the altar. Also, the Sorrow ring appears to affect a person's mind, so he probably would be better without the ring, still sad, but not "I'm gonna make everyone sad" sad.
