Mon Dieu. Emmanuel Macron’s gamble to call a snap general election after poor results in the European elections last month looks to have backfired, with Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally trouncing the President’s centrist coalition in the first round of voting in France.

Kamal and Camilla talk to The Telegraph’s Paris Correspondent Henry Samuel to find out what it means ahead of the final round of voting at the weekend. With France heading for uncharted territory, could it end in a chaotic parliamentary deadlock?

Plus, England scraped into the quarter finals of the Euros after a dramatic comeback against Slovakia. The Telegraph’s man in Gelsenkirchen Thom Gibbs has all the latest reaction from Germany and says he’d be surprised if Gareth Southgate stays as manager, even if he brings it home this summer.

He embarrasses himself and is not a centrist. People have a right to protect and respect their cultures.

Focusing on crime immigration and cost of living.. Wow all the things the people actually care about

Why can’t anyone in msm admit that mass immigration imposed by the EU is the entire reason this is happening in Europe everywhere. Without that we would not be in this situation. This and other outlets talk about the right- but don’t mention this is people voting and not the actual right/ maybe the position they have put in and have to vote. It’s the people voting and not the parties the msm have a problem with…shown in the comments from this person reporting in Paris

Le pen, Farage, and Trump. Rather than: Macron, Sunuk, and Biden.

WOW 0:41 she said right-wing; not far-right, not hard-right, not extreme-right, just right-wing. What a good surprise.

People will never learn. Voting doesn't change anything. Macron used to be the saviour but things have gotten worse under his government.

Fear of the Le Penists has already led to a fall of over 200 billion Euros on the Paris stock exchange.

The political analysis is too simplistic. The commentators seem to lose sight that people are rejecting undemocratic governments which have run rough shod over their respective populations.

Ii suspect that the kicking will continue. The French people are fed up with Macron and their centre left government. I suspect the British electorate will tire of Labour once they see their incompetence in government.

Whoops. And the far left humiliated them both.

Camilla looks as though she has just woken up and doesn't own a brush or a comb. Are we the audience so unimportant to her that she can't even be bothered to brush her hair for the cameras?

4:03 "Macron is the only president in modern history who was reelected". Well, actually, three out of the last five presidents were reelected. But I guess it's just a detail for the political analyst not afraid to explain the current political situation by... the French revolution which happened 250 years ago.
