Ten minute drawings are a great way to rapidly improve our drawing skills. Each drawing identifies issues we need to work on, and that gives us a focus to work on, without spending time unnecessarily drawing things that are within our current drawing comfort zone. These 10 minute videos based on a range of different subjects, are all collated on a Playlist, making them fast and easy to find and use. The reference photos can all be found on the channel Community Page.

I really appreciate you sharing the references in your community tab, it creates a neat little library to pick and chose from while the decision making is still mostly already done. Also a great starting point to not get influenced too much. Like this I can do my own drawing first and then afterwards watch yours more relaxed and observe where you approached it differently and take that lesson to tomorrows drawing.

I like your 10 minute sketches at real speed, with a quick flurry after the 10 minutes for additional details. It’s always good to see you placing dots, to get your proportions correct. I do this all the time now thanks to you and it’s a VITAL structure to my drawings. I’m sure you will still continue with your full-scale pictures too! :) Jim.

I notice how you measure and mark before drawing the first line. It is a great way to keep in proportion and the little mark becomes invisible in the final drawing.Excellent lesson and demonstration.

The ten minutes drawing exercise I observe your videos with lots of attention gives me always a review. I have learned of observing the line work and the marks you always mention.

Watching these 10 min sketches; how you use visual cues and your drawing process is very helpful. It’s giving me confidence to draw everyday and learn. Thank you. You have a great teaching style! 😊

I like real time videos, especially when it's only 10 minutes. Watching the sped up videos of artists on YouTube sometimes makes me set off at about 100mph when I sketch outside, and I feel compelled to gallop along at speed! It's easy to forget what drawing really looks like!
Thank you for your excellent teaching. 😊

absolutely finding these helpful in sketching journey! Currently was watching and drawing along but from last video, you pointed out it was more learning experience if drew seperately later. And it helped, going to try new approach someone poitned out. Drawing first and then watching your video to see how I could have drawn it better. More like a review video

So I did this exercise, but I did it in 10 minutes per sitting. I have to say that I'm rather happy with my work, although I can see areas where I could have done better by observing better. Thanks again.

Day 8. Total time drawing 25 mins as I couldn’t get the stonework pattern in within 10 mins 🥵. Still working on getting longer lines smoother. But actually even if they are wonky they look fine. I did do a bit of “pen” measuring as my eye over estimated the width of the tower. Happy with perspective and heights of the towers. Will I do a quick warm up before next time. Thanks Stephen❤

I loved your video explaining 10-20 min. daily drawing. Your 10 min. videos are excellent reference to learn to draw better. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
May I ask a question please, what size of paper do you use for the 10 min. drawings? Thank you.

Could you talk about the paper you use? I know that some papers the fine pointed liners become broken and larger nibs blob flooding two close lines into a thick one. What type of paper do you recommend for the pens you use?
