Replacing Rotten Floor Joists

For Today's Task I am replacing on of the floor joists that has rotted out and it not structurally sound anymore. Follow along to replace your own joists.

I think you may want to put a protective layer of, say, tar paper between the concrete and the joist end to avoid more rot. Unless the wood is pressure treated or painted. Nice vid.

There is definitely something about the way Joel explains things that is not superfluous. I’m enjoying learning from all of these videos. We just purchased our first home last summer and I’m itching to work on more than just the typical hanging of pictures and painting of walls. The knowledge that you are sharing here Joel is giving me a lot of confidence to just get at it.
