I think you may want to put a protective layer of, say, tar paper between the concrete and the joist end to avoid more rot. Unless the wood is pressure treated or painted. Nice vid.

Great job Joel! I love the in-depth instruction and advice you give in your videos. Especially the advice you gave today to not just patch the problem you find, but fully fix it. 👌🏻

There is definitely something about the way Joel explains things that is not superfluous. I’m enjoying learning from all of these videos. We just purchased our first home last summer and I’m itching to work on more than just the typical hanging of pictures and painting of walls. The knowledge that you are sharing here Joel is giving me a lot of confidence to just get at it.
Would love to see more of these practical home remodel videos as well as any wisdom you can share about lawn care and exterior maintenance.
Thank you!

My husband and I are looking at buying our first home. He is a timber joiner and I've really been loving listening to his work and watching him in his element but I want to understand more so I can contribute better to conversations on what he enjoys. Thanks so much for these videos! They are super enjoyable, helpful, and will definitely be useful for us as we go into buying a fixer-upper :P

I am loving your new channel, it's especially encouraging to see the lil hiccups at the end (b/c I know every job we do has its fair share of set backs and it's nice to know we're not alone. The struggle is real) You've inspired me to try and open up a load baring wall we've been thinking about for yrs and I feel confident we can handle it when the time comes. It'll be in the future tho; you know, one day when we get the fundage lol Thank you again for your channel. It's inspiring, and well, it just makes my heart happy lol You're killin it...
Long-distance highfive from Savannah✋ We love u Keep up the good work -Kris 🤟
