My Cat is an Indoor Cat.I leave my Air conditioner on. He has a Water fountain, but he would rather drink from his Water bowl.

Thanks for the reminder to remove the loose fur. They didn’t resist as much as they usually do in the winter.

From many, many years of sharing our lives and what we have with a series of cats. Now in our mid seventies we look back at a privilege life, not so much in material possessions, we've done OK, but in the lovely cats that we have adopted and those special feline friends who have adopted us. It's seems that cat guardianship works best for all if we understand a cats natural rhythms and patterns of behaviour as we all go about our day together. A temperate island climate with few extremes means the being inside and out side are both very similar, but what we have done is give our boy, Lenny immediate access to not only what he needs, but those things he seems to like as well..
We've learned over the years that interaction is important and rewarding. Light petting is important to help locate any injuries they may sustain from territorial disputes, knowing their favourite outdoor spots are important, but not letting kitty know that we know. All kinds of things - just being discretely aware. Our cats have come to us as kittens and left from natural courses well into their high teens in human years. A cat is not just a cat, a cat is an integral part of our family, just as they should be.

Indoor cats live longer and healthier lives...their lives are short enough already without letting them roam outside.

We live in the brutally hot humid Southeast and our kitty begs non stop to go out on the screened in porch all day lon. Starts first thing at dawn and we usually force her to come in at dusk. She only asks come inside to snack and use the litterbox and goes back out right after. I work from home so she's spoiled. Its bizarre shes crazy idk how she doesnt die the heat index can be well over 100 and she loves it. When I have to leave to go the gym she cries at me and goes limp when I pick her up to come inside.

My cat likes ice cubes in her water. She licks them and paws them. I don't think it can harm her and it seems to help.

Sometimes doing these things isn't enough: especially when you have the humidity added to the heat. I did all of the mentioned "tricks" but I still had to very recently say goodbye to my Siamese fur child - he had heat stroke and the vet made him as comfortable as he could. It's devastating. My suggestion is to keep multiple bowls of cool water in the house - every room had one. I've also frozen water filled bottles so that my cats could lay against it.

I live in Florida, and like most in the recent heat wave across the US, the temps soared above 95° with triple digit "feels like" temps...
I kept all 22 of our block's community cats (befriended when they were young, or raised as orphans when there's no mother, and all tnvr'd) inside my home...
All that week, after their "dinner" inside in the early a.m., I kept them inside, and after playtime, they laid on the cool kitchen floor, or in front of the a/c and slept until well after the sun went down... Then after "breakfast, " out they'd go again until sunrise and "dinner" they next morning...
(Note-- Every few months I give them topical flea and tick drops to keep them healthy, and my home free of parasites).

My cats are in door out doors but during hot temps which can reach 105° F during summer, I try to keep them inside with the ceiling fans and AC on. They love to get that sunny day and lay in the shade, I also make sure they have fresh water in their bowl and fountain.

Got to try the cold water dam towel for sure and keep brushing them. Thanks as always!

I add ice cubes to our kitty water fountain. Not only does it chill the water nicely? But it also adds a new "FUN FACTOR" now to drinking, as my cat tries to swat/play with the ice cubes as the fountain swirls them around. Absolutely hilarious to watch, too!

One hint my vet told me about is to wet your fingers with rubbing alcohol and then the tip of your cats ear flaps. This goes for when they are hot or have a fever.

Living in southwest Florida and no air conditioning due to extreme arthritis I make d*** sure there's plenty of clean fresh water and allow the kitties to rest all day so they can zoom in the cool of the night.

I have central air and it was nice and cool in my house, but I swear it brought on another explosion of shedding even though I had all of them combed out. I kept all 4 water bowls full changed the water twice on the really hot days and they do like bathroom tile and ceiling fans. On the really hot days air con and all they were still warm. Poor babies! Thanks for the video! Love your channel!😻

I brush twice a day, light shed most of the year. Bengals get a under fur buildup in winter, I keep the house 66-76*. Bathroom is always the coolest room, some times my girls well lay on the tile floor to cool down.

If I leave & go any where & its warm n the house i always leave the fan on or the air conditioner ( depending on the weather ). Always leave the tv on an animal channel my tom cat likes lion king ( idk y ) but he will sit & watch it with or without me. Lol.you can also use awash cloth to wipe their coat down ( it does help ).my tom has long hair so I tey to keep him as cool as possible.

Basically from the videos and comments:

pet the cat,
Use a wet cloth to wipe the cat down,
Have water in every room,
Possibly add ice cubes to the water,
Have frozen water bottles for the cat to lye down against

In order to help the cat stay cool

Mine are all indoor cats. I run the air and fans. They like to lay in the bathtub, as well as on the bathroom floors.
