Eliminate Vocal Breaks : Voice Cracks No More - Rock Singing Lessons

In this episode, master vocal coach Kevin Richards shows you a way to train to keep your from breaking or cracking as you sing through your chest voice and head voice.

Lots of singers have problems singing from one vocal register to another? Why do vocalists have these issues? Well, some singers lack an ability to keep their vocal cords engaged and their resonance open. This disconnect of the vocal folds can sometimes be severe or just annoying. This crack or break in the passagio is because the notes they are singing either don't have enough breath support, not enough resonance, too much vocal muscle strain or they can actually have too much breath support.

The idea of the vocal exercise is establish a really good sound in your comfortable singing range and stretching it to your upper or high notes. No need for vocal placement or modifying vowels. Leave it alone.

Doing this exercise from my vocal course "Breaking the Chains" (purchase link below) just minutes a day for a few weeks and you'll see the difference in your resonance and your vocal cracks starting to disappear.

I don't know how often you check these comments but I just wanted you to know that after working the vocal fire warmup program, which I do everyday sometimes twice a day, and I've these for 6 weeks now... I am able to do wanted dead or alive perfectly without breaking or straining. I'm able to hit the high notes without pulling chest. I wish you could see the great progress I've made using vocal fire AND watching your free lessons on you tube. Thank you so much. I have a show mother's day and I can't wait to try out my new voice.

Your videos to me are the clearest and most encouraging tutorials on the whole of YouTube, and so I'd really like to say how thankful I am that you continue to make such great resources :D however, I have a question that has been troubling me for some time: when I go into quiet, high pitched head voice immediately after a 30second to 2minute period of mixed voice, it becomes very wobbly and transitions undesirably between falsetto and head voice rapidly...kind of like what is known as a "teste pop" (and I'm not male) What is causing this, and do I have damaged vocal cords? (Thanks in advance)

Really good but the trick in how to get that into a song?

Yes, I think not modifying sounds appealing...  other videos say to modify the "Ah" because the "Ah" sound tends to "splatter" (not sure what that means), so you believe in keeping it pure? Never modify the "Ah"?

Also, how does this relate to your narrow "Woo" exercise video to fix breaks? I am confused why one video is using the narrow "Woo" and the other a very open "Ah".

I know some singers swear by the Ah vowel for building the voice and some the Eh vowel..Whats your take?

According to Jim Gillette, he said one should have a wide embouchure(or have a wide smile)when doing his exercises for instance the ya-ah exercise, but I feel strained after doing it for some time. Any Advice?

I'm kinda stuck on your ''The Stutter'' exercise, my head voice is very airy and underdeveloped and when I come down from head-voice to chest I hear a click. Should I do the first half of CD1 until I can move on or should I keep doing ''The Stutter'' this way?

Recently i've purchased a singing program called Hybrid Vocal Technique.. and in that program there's an exercise that tells you to do the "Ah" sound the way you do it but with out the Y consonant... Would adding the Y reduce some sort of tension on the chords as you go up in pitch?
