I am OBSESSED with this study and used it myself as an addict in a unique way. Over the course of a few months, I started to fill my life with EVERYTHING good as I gradually decreased my use of heroin and fetynal. I am VERY skeptical as to WHY this is NOT implemented more. Rehabs, jails etc. are BIG business at this point and if they TRULY wanted to help people, this study IS the answer.

Not sure why this would surprise anyone, most people using drugs aren't doing it because they're living a fulfilled engaged life. People use drugs because they're bored, and unhappy and they lack the means to change these facts. Coupled with the social misunderstanding that they're selfish and choose to self medicate it becomes an almost unbearable stigma that drives the self destructive behavior which frequently ends in overdose. Many people think they know what their addict friends & relatives should do, but the truth is the wrong kind of help is no help at all.

Connection is what our soul craves without it we will numb ourselves to tolerate or alleviate the pain and without it there’s really no reason to stay living itd be a slow tortures death to be alive along time with no connection
