Anyways, if you're wondering why it did recently update, it's because they updated the keys for the Blu-ray (basically they update the list of blu-rays that can be played on the console for example The recent Nosferatu can now be played on a PS3)

The reason why its updating because its restoring the blu ray and dvd licences so it can play modern movies

There actually was an update back in 2024. Pretty sure all it did was add new Blu-ray encryption keys.

That's not true, though. Don't spreak misinformation. Sony patches the ps3 constantly to keep the encryption key on Blu-ray disks up to date so people who still use their ps3's as a dvd player can watch modern disc's with ease.

Bro when my grandmaw said she would get any playstation except the ps5 for the "boys room" for when me and my cousin stay over, i asked for a ps3 mainly because of the games on their that i cant play on my ps4 like transformers wfc
