Disneyland and Walt Disney World is expensive.

In this video I go through the different ways you can redeem credit card points for Disney tickets.

When redeeming credit card points for Disney tickets there are a few options:

Chase:
Purchase the ticket and redeem your points for cash back at 1 cent per point (CPP)

American Express:

Citi ThankYou Points:
Call Citi and they can purchase Disney tickets for you and you can use your points at 1 CPP

Capital One Venture Miles:
Purchase tickets through a ticket seller that codes the purchase as travel. Then redeem your miles to 'erase' the charge off your credit statement at 1 CPP

Bilt Rewards Points:
Use the Bilt Travel Portal and redeem your Bilt points for Disney tickets at 1.25 CPP.

I covered my entire ticket cost for my wife and me using Bilt Rewards points.

You can also purchase Disneyland Paris tickets in the Bilt travel portal too!

As for the hotel, I also transferred 15,000 Bilt Rewards points to World of Hyatt to book the Hyatt House that is a 10-15 minute walk to the Disneyland entrance.

Max, the coolest thing about those 2D barcodes on your Disney tickets... the data has error correction and redundant data, so even if half the barcodes is missing (or blurred out in your case), it can still be scanned and all the missing information is recoverable. There are YouTube videos that explain how that works.

Also, even if you blurred the whole thing, there's new software out there that can unblur images. The software knows what proper barcodes look like (jagged black and white rectangles). So it creates various iterations of valid barcodes, blurring each one, and then comparing each to your blurred image until it finds a blurred match. At that point, it knows exactly what barcode was originally used to make the blurred version.

I'm a bit of an expert when it comes to 2D barcodes. It was cracking 2D barcodes that got me sent to federal prison, as a matter of fact.

My advice, next time, BLACK OUT the ENTIRE code, and never blur anything that you don't want to be seen.

Hey Max, I would like to book a flight for my mom since she is visiting me for my graduation next summer and she will be flying from Taiwan. What’s the best award space and airlines to fly from Chicago to Taiwan? I even look into flying business or first to Japan and just buy a short ticket to Taiwan. I think it will mean lot to me that my first award booking is for my parents thank you !!

Does Citi now allow you to put a statement credit towards your ticket purchase instead of calling them?

Hello Max, For some reason Hyatt does not allow me to use point and it is giving me this message no matter what day I select, "Hyatt House at Anaheim Resort/Convention Center". I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
