How to Divide Decimals
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Dividing with decimals can seem difficult at first, but it's important to treat them like any other long division problem. For example, use this problem: First set up the problem as you would any other long division equation. Now you need to remove the decimal point from the divisor. Do this by moving it to the right until the divisor is a whole number (14).Do the same thing to the dividend by moving its decimal point to places to the right (44.8).Now place the decimal point directly above the division sign.Continue solving the problem using normal long division until you find your answer.14 goes into 44 three times with a remainder of two. Place the three on the left side of the decimal point in the answer area. Subtract 42 (three multiplied by 14) from 44 to get 2. Then bring down the eight to get 28. Now divide that number by 14 to get 2. Put the two on the right side of the decimal and you can see that the final answer is 3.2.
