Happy People Live Longer
"There is a longstanding idea that happiness causes people to live longer, healthier lives. However, convincing evidence that subjective well-being (the more scholarly term for happiness) contributes to longevity and health has not been available."

Can 'Blue Zones' Help Turn Back the Biological Clock?
"Sardinian sheepherders, Japanese grandmothers and Seventh-Day Adventists in Los Angeles don't seem to have that much in common. But within these groups there are some of the longest-lived people in the world."

My greatgrandmother who lives in southern africa is between 105 and 115 years old, we arent really sure. She only ate food that was grown in her garden, rarely ate meat. Walked if she ever had to go somewhere and spent most of her days outdoors. It really works, guys

What is their of a plant based diet. What foods are the least likely to give you negative feelings afterwards...plant based foods. When you are happy you are more likely to create meaningful relationships with people.

These people are happy to accept what is; rather than waiting for something external to make them happy.
They don't get offended easy, they let things go and live their lives.

I wonder, if McDonalds alone were removed from America, how much obesity rates would decrease.

So basically:

>eat healthy
>maintain productive and fulfilling relationships
>be relatively active
>have a sense of purpose
>do things that make you happy

This all sounds like rather basic stuff. I shouldn't be surprised, but I am.

I can confirm that high meat diet is bad for you. I'm from Mongolia and we eat ton of meat. We rank 11th at heart disease risk, and 132th at life expectancy.

Lived in Okinawa for 2 years. I'd go back there any day in a split second. It was literally the happiest 2 years of my life! Good food, beautiful area (heaven on Earth). Basically the romanticized version of Hawaii in real life. And people are SO KIND there!

00:37 Italy is highlighted with Istria (which now belongs to Croatia) and without the Sardinia island one of the region cited in this video..

Interestingly none of the places you mentioned are fully capitalistic. It's kind of mixed economy. People are productive but also value family. They live with loved ones. Take breaks from work, are not power hungry or money hungry.

I don't care so much how long I live as how well I live.

I have studies anti aging for 36 years and have made some incredible inroads but have not solved it. I do however live disease free, in great cardio health, and without any aches and pains at 66.

It seems to me like the common factor among long lived people is that they have a larger community that they stay actively involved in. Why would doing all of your exercise throughout the day versus a really intense workout make any difference? Americans to the contrary are completely capitalistic, allow rich people to destroy the environment for the sake of wealth and are relatively lonely compared to close knit villages after we leave high school and college; our circles become smaller. I'm starting to believe the secret to longevity is caring for other people around you

Is paying my bills a good reason for living? That's about all I've got.

what did he mean by "don't drink too little"? Is alcohol good for you in moderation? Or did Trace just mean water?

My family is weird. All my family smoked for at least 30 years, then quit. My grandpa died at age 94 and my grandma is 95 and walking (she still swims actually). My obese uncle with type 1 diabetes is in his late 60s, still kicking... I'd like to see how long I live without smoking.

Has anyone here ever heard of a small island island in Greece, Ikaria which has exceptional longevity statistics and maybe higher than the areas refered in the video.Substantial factors and common knowledge(in most rural areas of Greece)are the practices of these elders In these blue areas as they are called, also another factor is their stress free lives. For example there is no common openning hours for shops and in some cases you are left to pay to none but instead leave the payment on the counter
