for those that didn’t watch the show, her disrespect toward the younger chef wasn’t due to age, it was because she didn’t like that she and the male chef were making a lot of changes in the place she’d worked for a long time and were from a more professional culinary background vs. the style she knew from working at this place.
her initial resistance and later willingness to learn and grow is so endearing to follow, and she’s one of the best characters on the show.

I had this issue with a lot of older people in the kitchen, I work there longer so I had more knowledge and experience in the kitchen for that company and when I tried to help someone who was older or have to train someone who's older they didn't listen to me or take my advice because they feel like they don't need to learn anything from someone way younger than them ( I'm 23 ) and most of the time they got fired or they quit because they wasn't doing their job correctly.

She was just a hard worker that happened upon the opportunity to cook.

I like how they showed what it’s like to be older and humbled in the workplace by someone younger. That’s not a concept you see acknowledged often in real life or media. I’ve experienced it and I’m not even that “old”

There's a valuable lesson here. Most people dont respond well to criticism. It puts them on the defensive and can cause problems. When you instead compliment them, they will be more willing to change. All living creatures learn faster through rewarding good behavior than punishing bad behavior.

Older people don’t like to feel that the world goes faster than them. Sometimes they feel they can’t keep up and that hurt them, we need to be more empathic. Someday we will be the old ones and gonna feel that the world is moving on without us
