Not really massive coincidences, one could argue that the psychedelic experience will always have key spiritual components to it including introspection, and that the extremely powerful and emotional effects of the psychedelic drug will always promote feelings (especially to a primitive culture) that it is spiritual, that it puts you in contact with gods, that it has some otherworldly properties (since they don’t understand the brain and how drugs work on it).

People STILL constantly claim that while taking high doses of tryptamine drugs that they encounter other beings, despite there still not being any evidence that these beings are nothing but a manifestation in your mind (these beings or ‘dmt elves’ have yet to volunteer information that would not otherwise have been known by the user)

So it’s fairly possible and even obvious that the psychedelic effect across different cultures promoted similar spiritual attachments to the drug- which in turn caused people to think the trip was a reflection of the afterlife- and this form similar religions based around that

The lifestyles of the Aztecs and their mentality is not even capable in today's times so taking the same trip isn't the same visions. We are in more of a peaceful society than anything going on during the time of the Aztecs

The thing they all have in common is being scattered around the world from the Tower of Babel. They took their common history, legends and stories with them.
