What does a mania player see? - Osu Mania with tobii eye tracker

I had a friend tell me that while I was playing mania my eyes rapidly move up and down. Got the tobii eye tracker and had some fun with it and decided to open up osu and see what I tend to do with my eyes. You have no idea how distracting that circle is while playing.

How do you read that?: Practice. It'll turn into muscle memory and hand-eye coordination. Just like standard osu or any other rhythm game.

Sorry I haven't responded much in the comments. It's a mixture of I don't play this game much anymore and Youtube sometimes sucks at notifying me for the comments. Also this video got a bit more attention than I thought.

As for people asking about the cool skin with the Rikka combo burst, no I can not provide you with a download link for that as it's an edited skin by me. I would rather not distribute a skin just because I changed some sounds and added a different mania combo burst. You can find out how to change the combo burst online somewhere (that's what I did to find out how to add Rikka).

i'm an arrow player and to my knowledge i don't move my eyes often, let alone drift down like you do. my eyes stay in the middle, where my acc rating is on my skin.

You can make it so the eye tracker will be picked up in recordings, but you can't see it. That way it won't distract you

yes, really! the eye looks down when you want to check whether to hit the difficult parts of a map or just to check accuracy

i am a circle player and i usually only look at the top of the screen when the map starts and then i only look a little below the middle.

looking at the middle gives us the proper reaction time and its dancing to the beat because the eyes autofocus on the notes and look down a bit
