Have you noticed that a lot of car enthusiasts are putting Chevy engines in their project cars? It almost seems like the Chevy LS is more preferred than building the factory engine. Well, there are a few good reasons why you should swap an LS engine into your project. Especially if you’re looking for high performance and reliability.

Remember that the 5.3 can be bored if it's cast iron to 5.7 and ls loves displacement 5.3 doesn't make as much as a ls1 so if your looking my opinion is get a 6.0 if you can't find a ls1

Well at least I was smart enough to go with the ls v8 when I bought my 2019 gmc truck.

Pistons are only the weakest point because people fail to gap the rings to the performance level they wish to aquire.
The LS takes heat because they're capable of holding together better to higher HP levels than any other stock engine ever. Pistons on an LS will work well to past 500 hp where other engines will have multiple failure under 400 hp.
So that's kind of a weird point to make.

How we got it into our mind that archaic pushrod valve operated, V8 engines are the greatest thing since sliced bread is beyond my comprehension. Maybe they are more popular in North America due to familiarity and being readily available. I’d still like to see overhead valve engines grow in popularity.

Good information. I agree with other commentors about the music - it's a distraction and just makes it harder to hear you when the inevitable voice drop-out happens. Also, the movement of your hand is an unnecessary distraction. Best to just keep hands out of the image area. More photos would be useful. The tendency is to speak too fast - slow down, use pauses between thoughts. This was a very useful video/tutorial, and I appreciate the work put in and the effort. Keep it up!

Dohc costs a lot of size but not that much weight. The 5.0 coyote, for example, weighs about the same as an aluminium 5.3 ls around 430lbs. The strength of dohc is incredible flow relative to port volume. The strength of pushrod is lower center of gravity and small external size relative to displacement.
