"If you haven't had at least one close call while driving fast on a stage, you weren't going fast enough for your level of skill"

Brilliant

I turn pace notes off the screen as it ensures you listen carefully and are not distracted by the arrows and info. Hard at first but definitely worth it in the long run

What I find good is to turn off the Rally Progression bar - it distracts you from driving, if losing time at a checkpoint, the info might cause you to drive unnecessarily fast and crashing. Better to drive at your own pace.

Lowering sensitivity for controller play really helped. I was doing fine on larger roads but Croatia and Monte Carlo with their tight roads were really frustrating with default setup.

Thanks so much for the tips! Maybe it's too niche a subject, but a video on tire selection would be awesome. I'm a casual rally fan who mostly just plays the games, and in Dirt Rally 2.0 you can get away with soft tires 99% of the time. So having to actually pick my tires and choose when and how to use them is a little overwhelming. Mixing compounds diagonally should at least get me started experimenting, so thanks again!

Having a stand alone video about pace notes is a great idea. Hope it can happen soon.

My ideal WRC game is one that actually lets you conduct a Recce. It’s a realistic experience and will keep me from having to keep hitting restart.

tip number 11.... use your headlights lol. I noticed you guys driving on some stages in bad weather without your lights on, i find it very dark personally! may sound silly but i think it helps.

Superior to DIRT series in my opinion. All comments are in my experience and do not reflect your personal preferences. Pace notes are key. I prefer female English co driver. I try not to look "up" at directions as it defeats purpose of listening to your co-driver. I also turn off progress bar. Also turn notes to ahead for setting up next section. Sensitivity tuned to wheel and controller as appropriate. I Use practice courses in sub settings for fine tuning. I deliberately feather accelerator to 80-90%. Trail braking and counter-steering are skills you will need. Times are improved when you stay on course. You are racing the course for time not the other competition. There are many helpful cogent tutorials online for tuning. Though depends on your driving style. A rudimentary understanding of physics is helpful. This is where WRC is better optimized. DIRT IMO "feels" sloppy and floaty" See Whales. Regardless of settings or course conditions. No dynamic weather or annoying glare from start time at dusk or early morning. I have read critiques of arcade-like immersion. I have found these to be superfluous. Try Monte Carlo with a class B and F around and find out. Last tip I heard from real rally drivers: Apply brakes at point of maximal elevation before "Big Jump" Front end will stay slightly elevated as car lands. Good luck and try the Scandinavian flick.

I did alright in WRC 9, but even 100% AI hammered me in WRC 10. So I decided, I need to improve. So I went to the hardest of rallysims, RBR. Also competed against real people in online championship. Once I got to the point that I could finish rallies without crashing out, I went back to WRC 10. Absolutely destroyed the AI on 120%.

Any racing game you intent to actually learn to improve you should start with all helps on but manual shifting. Shifting is the toughest thing to get used to, but the only skill that transcends gear used and game used. So once you have that, you can drive manual even with a controller despite learning with a wheel. Its absolutely crucial to know how to shift before everything else, since learning it once you already know how to drive without assists will set you back tremendously after all the progress you made.

Edit: Spelling, Jesus.

i find this game really beginner friendly since i really started playing rally games playing dirt rally 1, but since i played a lot of dirt rally 1 and 2 i find this game to be a bit of a stepback when comparing everything visual and also game sounds, but all in all a great game
