The cycle of every Subaru owner.

“I’m gonna keep it stock”
“I’m gonna keep it mostly stock”
“Just some light mods”
“Some basic bolt ons”
“We’re pushing the limits of the stock block”
“We blew up the motor…”
“New IAG block coming soon!”

2020 STI. Bolt ons. Tomei EL header and Titanium exhaust. Cobb CA intake and turbo inlet pipe. Cobb GESI downpipe and stage 3 OTS Cobb tune. Front mount. Ring lands on cyls 2 and 4 gone in 3 months. New block from Subaru, manley forged pistons, IAG oil seperator, IAG oil pan/pickup/windage tray 1050 x injectors, tumble delets, FPblue(small inlet) Fuel pump, new oil pump/oil cooler. Paralell fuel system with new rails. Pro dyno tune(400@ wheels) That engine lasted 40k miles till the piston rattle was terrible. So I took the original block I still had with the new pistons from the new OEM block I bought(engine # 2). I cut the compression rings to .030 primary and secondary comnpression rings. Everything else was the same. This thing runs faster than the forged engine, never had it retuned it. Almost 30k on it and oil looks clean at over 3k miles. Uses a pint of oil in about 3k miles and still running strong.

Got a 1998 WRX and it's stock apart from the catback exhaust. They are actually great cars stock.

I'm old enough and broke enough AND clueless enough to have no issues keeping my Impreza stock!
Plus, I mean, base Impreza...

Aw shit, I just bought my WRX and told myself I don’t need any power. Deep down, I know I’m going to do some “light” mods in the engine though.

Stock sucks and why the fail. Just bite the bullet and take your stock block out and use it to get built way cheaper that way.

Tall Ben said exactly the same thing about the Evo some years ago, hahahahaha.
