Ranking EVERY 5 Star Character in Genshin Impact (2024)

Haven't made a Genshin Impact full tier list in a while (made a bunch on version specific units but not a general one) so I decided to make an updated one! I know I could've waited until Version 5 but a lot has changed in Version 4 and I think it's worth updating. Although this one will only cover 5 stars in light of there just being way too many units to talk about if we did everyone. Might do a 4 star video if there's enough support for it! As usual some things to make note:
- Waifu over Meta ALWAYS AND FOREVER
- Tier list is NOT ordered within tiers.
- Tier list grading is based on a spectrum not a hard cutoff. In other words, a character’s placement on a tier isn’t uniform. For example, one character in tier 2 might be very close to tier 1, whereas another character in tier 2 might be very close to tier 3. Therefore if you go “I can’t believe you put X in the same tier as Y”, please keep that in mind.
- This tier list will not factor specific cycles and will be based on general usage. Hyper specific situations are disregarded since that can undeservedly skew the practical usefulness of a character in their favor.

I would Switch Klee and Yoimiya. Yes Yoimiya is single target, but she is so easy to play, she attacks so fast that you almost don't need to move around to clean multiple waves of enemies. On the other hand, klee is too clunky to play. Even though I switched my yoimiya for arlechino for every much all the content, yoimiya has been cleaning all the content for me for the past 2 years

I feel like niche category should be above decent. Those characters are less versatile but in practise way better then those in decent tier.

even though explained that the "niche tier" can still be top tier, seeing childe xiao and nilou below the entire "decent tier" and even some on the "excellent tier" just feels so wrong lmao

neuv didn't powercreep childe. he powercrept ayato. childe is still preferred for internat even if neuv has greater value overall whereas ayato's final niche is bloom which neuv isnt far behind

Chlorinde's main advantage over cyno is bcs she is a skill dps imo. I have both cyno and CL with their sig weapons, and CynoBaizhuFurinaNahida did more than CL overload. However, one uses burst while the other uses skill. So theyre kinda very similar in terms of overall dmg output but CL is slightly more efficient bcs she doesnt suffer from er issues. And i love them both!❤

The only point I would disagree with is Childe being powercrept by nuvie considering there teams dont even clash in anyway. If anything Nuvie increased childe usage a lil bit by making him a support.

I think the niche tier kinda ruins this list. There are too many overlaps between the tiers when you put all these characters in niche. Xiao/Bennett teams deserve to at least be in decent if we are comparing to standard 5 star characters in decent tier.

Childe being in niche while lyney is in two tiers above is very inconsistent as they both use the same characters and lyney has more dps loss with his charge shot playstyle. Both of them should at least be decent tier and held to same standards, according to your rules. I think this is probably just recency bias.

Nilou is “niche” but is still powerful and extremely accessible compared to any other dps. She can run completely f2p characters and still do good damage without farming high quality artifacts and investing in talents. That is enough to make her excellent for anyone who pulls her.

The dehya ranking is soooo outdated 😭 sure she's still bad but she's not QIQI or ALOY level bad she can actually be a decent pyro defensive option for neuv, wrio, arlecchino, chlorinde and lyney, this I feel makes her at least above the bottom tier. Assuming with cons also, furina buffs the hell out of her damage so she can be used as a decent on field dps
