In this example, we will solve the initial value problem d2y/dx2+y=0, y=sinx, y(0)=0, y'(0)=1. We will start by taking the derivative of y with respect to x, which is cosx, and then the derivative of y' with respect to x, which is -sinx. We can then plug this into the differential equation and check whether the solution holds or not. We then use the initial condition, y(0)=0, y'(0)=1, to verify if it is indeed the initial condition.
